V International Baltic Conference on Magnetism 2023

Dear Colleagues

We are delighted to announce the V International Baltic Conference on Magnetism: focus on magneto-optics, smart materials and biomedicine (IBCM-2023), to be held in Svetlogorsk, a resort town near Kaliningrad, Russia, located on the beautiful shore of the Baltic Sea, from 20th of August till 24th of August 2023. The conference is intended to facilitate the interdisciplinary interaction between the leaders and students of these fields. Internationally recognized scientists are invited to report on recent highlights:

1) Nano- and micromagnetism
  • Fundamental magnetism
  • Magnetism of nano- and microstructures
  • Magnetic alloys and compounds
  • Multicaloric and multiferroic materials
2) Application of functional nanomaterials
  • Biomedical applications of nanomaterials
  • Photocatalytic&environmental applications of nanomaterials
  • Sensing applications of nanomaterials
  • Nanomaterials for energy harvesting, storage and conversion
3) Magneto-optical Phenomena and Devices
  • Magneto-optical effects
  • Ultrafast magneto-optics
  • Magnonics and spintronics
  • Advanced photonics materials and devices (magneto-photonic crystals, NPs, waveguides)

We are delighted to announce that the IBCM-2023 Programme will be enriched by the Dedicated Section: Symposium on MAX phase and MXene materials. MAX phases, combining metallic and ceramic-like features in a unique set of properties, are intriguing materials for a wide scope of applications from protective shielding to photocatalysis and spintronics. On their turn, MAX phases’ derivatives – two-dimensional MXenes – are promising in almost every brunch of modern technology from environmental treatment and solar energy to flexible electronics and biomedicine. This makes us confident that attendees of the Symposium will enjoy given lectures and following discussion on these fascinating topics.
The Dedicated Section will be organized by Dr. Kirill V. Sobolev (REC “SM&BA”, IKBFU, Kaliningrad, Russia) in collaboration with Prof. Sergey G. Ovchinnikov and Prof. Sergey N. Varnakov from Kirensky Institute of Physics (Krasnoyarsk, Russia).
