Tokyo Institute of Technology, Tokyo, Japan
From the September to the end of October 2015, I was in Imaging Science and Engineering Laboratory of Tokyo Institute of Technology.
Visiting one of the best technologies institutes in a capital of Japan gave a lot of new impressions and ideas. Under the supervision of Professor Hiro Munekata I was measuring the dependences of Polar Magneto-Optical Kerr Effect (PMOKE) on different parameters of magnetoplasmonic crystals. Also I got a possibility to make investigations of magnetic properties by SQUID in wide temperature range in out-of-plane geometry (with help of one of the lab’s PhD. student).
This trip was very useful from scientific point of view. I got skills in measurement of PMOKE at wide wavelength and temperature range (using the optical cryostat) and I got data which describes the behavior of magnetic properties in magnetic fields with magnitude up to 3 Tesla, which is impossible to do at my laboratory (at the moment).
All works were done under the supervision of Professor Hiro Munekata and Doctor Kazuhiro Nishibayashi. During the internship they gave a lot of interesting ideas during the discussion of the obtained results and helped a lot with preliminary explanation.
The social part of the trip included welcome and farewell parties and an amazing dinner with Professor Hiro Munekata and his family. Also I met two comrades from Toyohashi University of Technology who were in Tokyo at a local conference and we had several very nice meetings 🙂
