Kirill Sobolev – Duisburg 2020

University of Duisburg-Essen, Duisburg, Germany.

Our PhD student Sobolev Kirill visited University of Duisburg-Essen (Duisburg, Germany) where he had an internship within the framework of G-RISC Russian-German mobility grant. The internship was supervised by Dr. Ulf Wiedwald who specializes in synthesis and investigation of magnetism in the novel compounds, including MAX-phases. Kirill investigated high- and low-temperature magnetic data on his highly doped (Cr,Mn)2AlC MAX-phases using PPMS machinery and set the groundwork for the future collaboration on the pulsed laser deposition synthesis of thin film MAX-phases from the self-made material targets. The achieved results may be helpful to reliably analyze the magnetic behavior of low-dimensionality materials and study its evolution with the increasing dopant content.
