Belyaev Victor – Moscow 2014-2015

Lomonosov Moscow State University, Moscow, Russia

From May 2014 to July 2014 and from February 2015 to March 2015 I had internships to the Departments of Quantum Physics and Magnetism of Lomonosov Moscow State University. There I visited the practicum at Magnetism Department (link) and Laboratory of Nanophotonics & Metamaterials (link).

MSU

At Magnetism Department under the supervision of Prof. N. Perov and Doctor T. Shapaeva I made practical works in sphere of magnetism. At the department there are a lot of old but not obsolete equipment 🙂 This equipment broke a lot and I had to repair it in situ using screws, scissors, wires, soldering iron and some other stuff. Therefore, these practical works can give experience and understanding of basic effects in sphere of magnetism and radioelectronics. Powerful scientific guidance allows understanding not only the phenomenal, but also the theoretical part of observed effects.

At Laboratory of Nanophotonics & Metamaterials under the supervision of the Professor A. Fedyanin and A. Grunin, I started my investigations of optical and magneto-optical properties of thin metal films and magnetoplasmonic crystals. I got experience in designing of optical schemes for different tasks, working with high-precision modern equipment and theoretical knowledge in spheres of photonics and plasmonics.

Both of these internships were full of new information, experience, and, of course, contacts. These were my first but far not the last visits to the MSU.
